Values and Philosophy

Andy is an emerging clinical social worker and group facilitator who is committed to creating affirming, welcoming, and collaborative environments for their clients in groups and individual therapy. Andy approaches sessions with curiosity, warmth, and intentionality, supporting clients in self-discovery, exploration, and connection with others.  Through a strengths-based collaborative approach incorporating empathy, humor, and play, they strive to foster environments where clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to discover and live as their authentic selves.

Areas of Focus

Andy works primarily with LGBTQ+ young people and adults in both group and individual therapy settings as well as clients who have experienced trauma or have significant anxiety. Andy is particularly interested in helping clients explore identity, belonging, and self-expression in ways that feel affirming and accessible.

As a therapist, Andy primarily utilizes the relational model, building connection to help create a safe space for growth, while weaving in other modalities to help their clients reach their goals. Andy regularly incorporates collaborative storytelling into group work, believing in the power of role-play as a tool to build self-confidence and to practice and process real world challenges in a controlled setting.

Experience and training

Andy is currently pursuing their Master’s in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. They are in the process of becoming a certified clinician in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, a practice of understanding how early trauma impacts brain development and client’s futures. They completed their initial training at Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook where they now work as a group facilitator on the Pride Team.
