LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy in Chicago
Want to talk identity? Let’s get to it.
As a small practice proudly founded, owned, and run by queer people, Constellation understands how exhausting and isolating it can feel to live in a world that was not built with our identities in mind. We know how meaningful it can be to have a space where you don’t have to explain, defend, or minimize who you are. Our clinicians combine lived experience with professional training to provide therapy that is affirming, compassionate, and grounded in respect for the many ways LGBTQ+ people build identity, relationships, and community.
Our Approach
-

Identity Exploration
We provide a space for you to explore if and/or how queerness might be a part of your identity. We come with questions, observations, and most importantly, no judgement. Our goal is for you to leave each session with a stronger sense of who you are and who you want to be.
-

Acceptance + Affirmation
We are your co-pilots through the family and cultural baggage that often comes with a queer identity. We identify and challenge old stories to help you make room for your full, expansive self.
-

Community + Connection
Connection and community are pillars of health and mental health. This is true for all people, and it can be especially true for queer folks looking for understanding in a world where queerness can be stigmatized. If you’re not connected to people, we identify challenges and experiment with ways to find your people.
In addition to our community-centered approach to individual therapy, we offer groups focused on providing community spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and adults.

Dealing with the Nonsense
There is a lot of noise out in the world about what it means to be queer and who queer people are. And, that noise has an impact. Often in the form of anxiety, stress, and depression. If that’s true for you, we’ll explore concrete ways to make sure you’re still able to build a life that is as vibrant as you are.
And, in case your depression gremlin is strong right now, you are, in fact, vibrant.

LGBTQ+ affirming therapy means that your therapist recognizes and respects diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures.
