LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy in Chicago
Want to talk identity? Let’s get to it.
Our Approach
-

Identity Exploration
We provide a space for you to explore if and/or how queerness might be a part of your identity. We come with questions, observations, and most importantly, no judgement. Our goal is for you to leave each session with a stronger sense of who you are and who you want to be.
-

Acceptance + Affirmation
We are your co-pilots through the family and cultural baggage that often comes with a queer identity. We identify and challenge old stories to help you make room for your full, expansive self.
-

Community + Connection
Connection and community are pillars of health and mental health. This is true for all people, and it can be especially true for queer folks looking for understanding in a world where queerness can be stigmatized. If you’re not connected to people, we identify challenges and experiment with ways to find your people.
-

Dealing with the Nonsense
There is a lot of noise out in the world about what it means to be queer and who queer people are. And, that noise has an impact. Often in the form of anxiety, stress, and depression. If that’s true for you, we’ll explore concrete ways to make sure you’re still able to build a life that is as vibrant as you are.
And, in case your depression gremlin is strong right now, you are, in fact, vibrant.

What will therapy for depression help me do?
identifying when their brains are leaning into an unhelpful negativity bias — towards themselves or the future
finding ways to gently challenge negative thoughts
tolerating moments of sadness, discomfort, and pain without believing these moments represent all that life is
finding and practicing behaviors/activities that will bring them joy or connection, even if they can’t feel it in the moment
comforting themselves when the feelings or thoughts inevitably come back (because a full life includes all feelings — not just comfortable ones)
None of this happens overnight, but change often happens faster and more sustainably when you have someone else on the team. If that sounds good, there’s a button below. You know what to do.
